Are you familiar with DISTANCER-PURSUER?
Distancer-Pursuer is a "dance" that many people use as a way to keep distance. For some it is to step back from unhealthy behavior patterns, for others it is a way to keep people from getting too close.
What it looks like:
It's when Person A moves closer to Person B. Person B senses it is too close and steps back. Person A feels unsettled and moves even closer. Person B moves further back again. Person A gets their feelings hurts and moves backward. When Person A has moved back far enough Person B moves forward toward Person A. Person A has desired this all along and feels good about that and moves toward Person B. Person A moves too close to Person B and the pattern of distancing, then pursuing, then distancing occurs again. It's painful and confusing.
Do this pattern seem to occur in your life (especially with your partner)?
